The Minnesota Book Awards: May, 2007
William Kent Krueger is the 2007 recipient of the Minnesota Book Award for Genre Fiction. At a gala event organized by the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library and attended by local educational and political leaders, Krueger won for Copper River, the most recent of his powerful series of mysteries featuring Corcoran O'Connor.
Several hundred practitioners of the literary arts attended the festive 19th annual awards event at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the evening of May 5. The award for genre fiction was presented by K.J. Erickson, nationally well-known mystery writer in her own right. The award was accepted in Krueger's behalf by a fellow member of the Minnesota Crime Wave, Carl Brookins.
